William Ray Agnew Obituary

William Ray Agnew Obituary

William Ray Agnew, age 89, of Allen, Texas, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 18, 2025. Born January 14, 1936, in Dothan, William was the son of the late William Lester and Zilla Ruth Adams Agnew.

William proudly served his country in the United States Army from January 17, 1955, to December 26, 1956, where he was a Sherman tank driver in Germany.

Though he had only completed one year of high school, he lived a full and meaningful life defined by hard work, strong values, and a deep love for family. He believed a handshake was a contract, and a person’s word was their bond. He retired at the age of 65, after a lifetime of labor that began with a paper route and ended with serving residential and commercial customers for over 35 years as the owner of Agnew Electric in Cisco. He was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Growing up in tough times taught him resilience, and he often encouraged others to “pay attention and work hard.”
