Dr. Jerry Dodson is the Athletic Director at Cisco College, but he is also the Vice President of Student Services. He has been at Cisco College for 27 years, starting in 1998 when he was hired as an academic counselor.
“If you had asked me in 1998 if I would still be here in 2025, I would have said ‘No!’” he said. But along the way, Cisco and Cisco College became his home. He realized early on that working at a small college has benefits. “They take care of you,” he said.
Shortly after Dr. Dodson joined Cisco College, his grandfather passed away. Dr. John Muller was the college president at that time. “I just remember Dr. Muller’s attitude was, ‘Jerry, you go take care of your family.’” “We didn’t have big salaries out here, but we had something that was better,” Dr. Dodson said. “The administration allowed folks to take care of things when they needed to take care of them.”
