RAF, city pondering HGHDOIRUKLVWRULFDLUHOG
By Tommy Wells Despite an acrimonious past and lingering lawsuits, the City of Ranger and the Ranger $LUHOG )RGDWLR DSparently still have an interest in working to make improvements at WKHFLWVKLVWRULFDLUHOG Maybe even together. During a special called meeting on May 29, the Ranger City Council and RAF representative Jared Calvert discussed parameters for a possible new agreement between the two entities to preserve the city’s 1920s-era hangar, and the future develop-PHWRIWKHDLUHOG7KH deal, which will have to be approved by the city council at a future date, would have the RAF restore the hangar and establish a museum in HFKDJHIRUWKHDLUHOG 7KHDLUHOGODGLWU would be sold to private investors to build period compliant “hangar homes” that would add VLJLFDW YDOH WR WKH city tax rolls and drive future growth.
Any deal, Calvert said, would require the city to get several appraisals for the property’s current value. The cost of the RAF renovations/improvements could then be weighed against the value of the property – on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
