Presentations of special awards were made at Eastland Chamber of Commerce’ 63rd Annual Golden Deeds Award Banquet Friday, held at the Lumber Yard Event Center in downtown Eastland. Chamber Director, Julie Elrod welcomed all attending the banquet and said in her opening remarks “— It’s about honoring the heart of Eastland. The Golden Deeds Banquet is our way of shining a light on the individuals, nonwho pour so much love, time, and effort into our community. The people we celebrate tonight are the reason Eastland feels like home”.
Larry Vernon then gave the invocation and led in the Pledge of Allegiance. A well established tradition, presentation of the Old Rip Oath - dear to the hearts of many Eastlanders, was given by H.V. O’Brien and Grandson, Levi Freeman. The Chamber Board of Directors was introduced by Julie Elrod and attendants then welcomed by the Board President, Clint Coffee.
