
Norman Phillip Rhodes, of Denton, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 30, 2025, in Denton, Texas.
He was born on January 19, 1947, in Eastland, Texas, to Vaneta (Mahaffey) Rhodes and Gene Vincent Rhodes.
After graduating from Eastland High School in 1965, Norman attended North Texas State University. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Denton. Norman served as a past board member of the Kiwanis Club, past president of the National Association of Left-Handed Golfers, and was a past board member of his neighborhood homeowners association.
He retired from Greenwood- Olivet Funeral Home in Fort Worth. Norman was an avid golfer, having played in tournaments nationwide. Later, he served as a marshal for many years at the Colonial Tournament. He proudly boasted five holes-inone over the years. He loved to travel—especially on family trips to Disney World—as well as attend sporting events, go scuba diving, and enjoy movies.
He was affectionately known as “Stormin’ Norman” and “Poppy Woppy” to his family.
Norman is survived by his loving wife, Cindy, whom he married in 1973. He is also survived by his daughter, Laura Beth (Rhodes) Wilson, and her husband, Tim, of Dublin, Ohio; and his son, Phillip Andrew Rhodes, and his wife, Beth, of Anna, Texas. Norman is also survived by his grandchildren: Riley Babcock, Connelly Wilson, Ryan Babcock, Madi Wilson, Logan Rhodes, Presley Weightman, and Kathleen Wallace; his great-grandson, Tyler Zane; his nieces, Leigh Stephanie and Ashlyn; as well as extended family and many, many friends whom he held close to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Andrea (Rhodes) Williams of Denton. nations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors.
