Cisco, Texas – 6/11/2025 – The City of Cisco is proud to announce the establishment of a new Wildfire Mitigation Department, dedicated to reducing fire danger risk within city limits. The department will implement proactive measures to protect residents, property, Infrastrucrure and natural resources from the threat of wildfires. In response to the increasing frequency and intensity of wildfires, the Wildfire Mitigation Department will focus on community education, vegetation management, and strategic planning to enhance the city’s resilience against fire hazards. This initiative is part of Cisco’s commitment to safeguarding the community and ensuring a safer environment for all residents. Key responsibilities of the Wildfire Mitigation Department will include:
Community Education: Providing resources and training for residents on fire prevention techniques and emergency preparedness • Vegetation Management: Implementing strategies to manage vegetation in and around the city to reduce fuel loads and lower fire risk.
• Firebreaks and Controlled Burns: Developing firebreaks and conducting controlled burns as necessary to create defensible spaces.
