Bob Ivie is one IT guru on the Cisco campus of Cisco College. His official title is “System Administrator.” With a long beard which he jokingly says is “inspired by the Amish and lumberjacks,” he zips around campus on a small utility vehicle, going from building to building wherever he is needed.
Many employees take for granted what he does: making sure that phones, laptops and computers are connected to the network or the Internet, making sure that all services are available, and ensuring that any upgrades or changes flow smoothly.
He reports to Tim Murphy, Executive Director of Information Technology, who is based on the Abilene campus, although both appear at both campuses as needed.
