The Eastland High School Mavericks had several players earn postseason football honors recently, including standouts Jay Oznick, Cason Browning and Gavin McClain. In all, nine members earned spots on the 2022 District 6-3A all-district squad.
Osnick and Browning highlighted Eastland’s first-team selections. A senior, Oznick was one of the Mavs;’ top offensive weapons this past season. En route to being named a firstteam all-district wide receiver, he caught a team-high 36 passes for 657 yards and nine touchdowns. He also finished as Eastland’s second-leading rusher.
A sophomore, Browning was a two-way firstteam all-district selection, making the list at running back and linebacker. As a running back, he gained a teamleading 434 yards on just 143 attenpts. As a linebacker, he had 39 tackles.
