Alissa Erickson of Cisco College had one goal at the recent College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming, where she was named Breakaway Roping Rookie of the Year and also won 3rd place in the nation in breakaway.
“I went to Casper planning to try and rope all four calves and let the results fall where they will,” she said. She and her horse Bootlegger did just that. They led the results in the first round.
“Placing in the first round and the average was a high point of the week,” Alissa said. “I was first out in the first round so I had to be mentally strong and trust myself,” she said.
