On the morning of July 6, 2025, a call to 911 turned into a life-changing moment for one local woman—and for the dispatcher who answered.
First responders and 911 operators never know what kind of call they’ll receive from one minute to the next. That unpredictability became very real when a woman dialed 911 and reported she was in active labor.
Eastland County 911 operator Darla Tiner immediately sprang into action. Drawing on her training and remaining calm under pressure, Darla not only dispatched first responders but also stayed on the line, guiding the woman through the critical moments of labor. The woman delivered a healthy baby boy with Darla coaching her.
