Citizens of Cisco, You can after 30 years finally have a chance to get your tax money back from the Cisco development corporations. In November it will be on the ballot for you to choose to abolish the CDC or keep the CDC and continue down the same path that we’ve been on for decades. The choice will be yours now that we were able to get it on the ballot. This is a great opportunity and a new beginning for the city of Cisco and it’s citizens. If you vote to abolish the CDC in November we will gain back control of
PG-13 one percent of our sales tax money.Estimated at 1 million dollars a year. No longer will our money be tied up where we cannot use it. Control of this money will be returned to our elected officials in the city Council . If this comes to pass there is a plan to be able to designate this money to the appropriate infrastructure’s needing repair. I’ve always advocated in my newspaper articles and speeches for giving you the right to vote on who and how your tax money is being used. All the others who have replied on Facebook, the Eastland Today newspaper and spoke like I did at the city council meetings basically advocated for NOT putting your right to vote on the election ballot at ALL. Except for Mr’s Sandy Keating. Now that you have that right , they will be trying really hard to get your vote since they need it now. Hopefully to convince you to continue the same path the city’s been on for 30 years. And keep the CDC collecting 1% of your tax dollars for them to use.
Back in June the city council ask the city attorney to look at the options in this matter. Out of 3 options he determined that the best and most favorable option was to dissolve the CDC and return the 1% sales tax approximately 1 million dollars a year back to the city. It would 20 also free up the reportedly 3 million in cash and the 2 million in property of our sales tax money they have as of this June 2025 . This is the money we can have our city council start budgeting for the needed sewer , roads and water pipes repair on a regular basis. The Attorney also told them how to save money by developing our own economic development department within the city . Controlled by OUR ELECTED CITY OFFICIALS. This will still accomplish the same thing as the CDC with out the large cost and tying up millions of our tax dollars that can’t be used for our tax paying citizens critical infrastructures.
