Hello again citizens of Cisco Your going to start seeing signs to vote Against PROP A. If you vote against Prop A you are voting to keep the CDC here in Cisco just like it has been for decades. They will continue to collect Half of our sales tax revenue and not be able to fix any of our residential streets , sewer lines or water lines .
Your 1 million dollars of sales tax each year will still go to the CDC for them to use and put in their bank accounts just like it’s been for 30 years. IF YOU VOTE ( FOR PROP A ) we will start getting that Money back to the city budget so they can start using it to repair ROADS, SEWER lines and WATER lines on a regular basis year after year. PROP A is NOT a tax increase as it appears on the ballot, ITS JUST OUR SALES TAX MONEY back from the CDC. This helps all our residents living here. The opposition doesn’t seem to be concerned about the old clay sewer lines steadily caving in. Or actually paving the residential roads the majority of us live on, or actually replacing the water pipes not just putting patches on them.
We have spent since February talking to the city council on this subject of dissolving the CDC and using that money for improving the tax payers infrastructure, roads, sewer and water lines. After months of speaking at city council meetings, The city council ask the city attorney Pat Chesser of Brownwood what the Best option would be for our town. Out of the three options, 1 keep the cdc as is. 2 cut the funding in half to the cdc. Or number 3 DISSOLVE the CDC and return that sales tax revenue back to the city . He told the council the best option for Cisco is number 3 , to dissolve the cdc and stop tying up so much of our tax revenue that can’t be used to get our infrastructure fixed . And that the city can create their own economic development department within the city office’s, and do it at a savings to the tax payers cost . While freeing up the million dollars a year of sales tax revenue back to the city for the city to divide it up for use as necessary for streets, sewer and water lines each year from this point on. By placing it in our yearly budget to be approved by our ELECTED council members. This is a good thing for our town.
