Save Cisco’s Future: Vote Against Prop. A Letter to the Editor To the Editor of the Eastland County Today, Cisco is a small town of just 3,883 people, but the impact of economic development here is anything but small. In communities like ours, economic development is not simply about recruiting new businesses— it’s about creating opportunity, sustaining our way of life, and building a future for the next generation.
When a new or expanding business opens in Cisco, it does more than provide goods or services. It creates local jobs, grows our tax base, and strengthens the revenue that funds streets, public safety, and schools. In a rural community, every project and every dollar invested creates a ripple effect that benefits everyone— from families to small business owners and future entrepreneurs. Our community has seen this firsthand. Through steady, practical investments, the Cisco Development Corporation (CDC) has helped bring and grow employers, improve buildings, and revitalize key corridors. Those efforts have supported long-standing local shops, brought more foot traffic downtown, and signaled to prospective investors that Cisco is a place worth believing in. Just as importantly, economic development helps keep our young people close to home by creating real career paths here—not somewhere else.
As a former City of Cisco Councilwoman and Mayor of Cisco, I have personally been a part of the growth and investment in the economic development for our community. I have seen the direct results of the CDC’s work, and I know how vital this organization is to our town’s continued progress.
