Judith Ann Sitton Ware, long-time resident of Cisco and wife of Maxey R. Ware formerly of Westbrook, died Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the age of 82 years, under Hospice care at the Woodlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Eastland. Judy was born on Tuesday, February 9, 1943, in Livermore, California, to Jerry W. Sitton and Mary Dorcas Green Sitton.
She graduated from Cisco High School and attended college at SMU, where she was a member of Delta Gamma and enjoyed watching her brother, Jim, play football. She also attended The University of Texas, earning her bachelor’s degree. Over the following years, Judy taught 8th grade English at Monterey High School in Lubbock and at Cisco Junior High. Later in life, she would also earn two master’s degrees from Abilene universities, which led to her twenty-six-year career as a teacher of creative writing and English at Cisco Junior College, where she was tenured. She greatly enjoyed her friendships with her peers at the college and was well-loved by her students.
Judy was also a wonderful homemaker and reared three children: a daughter, Allison Leigh; and sons, Brian James and Mark David Callarman. She enjoyed her family life, creating a warm and inviting home. Years later, when eleven grandchildren made their way into the world, she absolutely loved becoming “Mom-oh” and spent as much time with them as she could. In more recent years, three great-grandchildren have been added to Mom-oh’s loves, and another is on the way.
