The City Commission met last Thursday for their regular monthly meeting and the following items were acted upon: previous minutes were approved; bills were approved for payment; one citizen spoke concerning an issue about which will require a survey; department reports were received; Cameron Gulley, CPA, presented the 2023-2024 City $GLWZKLFKUHHFWHGQR negative issues and at his recommendation the City approved a 3% increase in public water rates and a 2% increase in the sewer rate; 2nd reading of Ordinance 2025-09-04 was approved adopting the tax rate for 2025; 1st reading of Ordinance 2025-09-04 adopting a Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan was approved; approved Resolution 1002-2025 adopting the Eastland County 2025 Hazard Mitigation Plan; and approved $500.00 for Michelle Troutman to paint a New State Champion sign. The mayor then discussed some of the issues being experienced from the construction on Highway 7KH VKHULIIV RIFH (deputies) has been asked to step up giving speeding tickets and to especially keep an eye on TxDoT and contractor vehicles that appear to totally ignore speed limits.
Previously, we requested WKDW D UHJODU WUDIF OLJKWUHSODFHWKHDVKLQJ caution light at highway 6 and Kent Street and were told we could not have one even though WKH VDPH WUDIF WUDYHOV on highway 6 through Dublin and DeLeon ZKR KDYH WUDIF OLJKWV on highway 6. We will be pursuing this issue to the legislature if needed.
