Maryann Perry, 88, of Cisco, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025. Born on December 29, 1936, in Cisco to Carrel and Rachel Smith, Maryann grew up with strong roots in her community and a deep sense of family and faith. She graduated from Cisco High School and attended Cisco Junior College before marrying Joe Brown and raising five children together on a farm in Pioneer, Texas. Life on the farm was busy and full of adventure. Summers on the farm were spent traveling across the state as commercial harvesters. Maryann took on the challenging job of driving the grain truck— with the family’s large trailer home in tow—moving from town to town. She worked long days hauling grain to elevators, while Joe and the boys ran the combines. It was a demanding life, but Maryann approached it with strength, grit, and a steadfast heart. After their harvesting days came to a close, the family purchased Brownwood Vending Company, where Maryann served as office manager and bookkeeper. Her keen eye for detail and natural organizational talent helped keep the business running smoothly. In 1976, Maryann returned to her hometown of Cisco, resumed classes at Cisco Junior College, and began working at Cisco City Hall, where she remained a dedicated and valued employee until her retirement in 2002. Maryann was a woman of deep faith and a longtime member of the Cisco Church of Christ. Her love for the Lord guided her life, and she found both strength and fellowship in her church community. One of Maryann’s greatest passions was golf. She played nearly every course in the area but was especially devoted to her home course at the Cisco Country Club, where she played regularly until it closed. She competed in tournaments across Central Texas, proudly winning the Cisco Ladies Championship, and achieving six hole-in-ones during her golfing career. Her best round score—a 75—was just one reflection of her skill, dedication, and lifelong love for the game. One of her most treasured memories was playing a round of golf at the historic St. Andrews Course in Scotland with her son. Through golf, she made countless friends and filled her life with laughter, competition, and camaraderie. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Carrel and Rachel Smith; her sister, Beth Prickett; and her beloved eldest son, Jeffrey Brown, whose memory remained close to her heart throughout her life. She is survived by her children: Kenneth Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Susan Bridges and her husband, Chipper, of Elgin, Texas; Dennis Brown and his wife, Sharon, of Lubbock, Texas; and Thomas Brown and his wife, Melanie, of Cisco, Texas. Maryann also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Kandis Brown, widow of her late son Jeffrey. Maryann was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Maryann leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, unwavering perseverance, kindness and love. Though her presence will be missed beyond words, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her family and friends take comfort in knowing that she is now in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held in her honor at the Cisco Church of Christ, 1701 Avenue N, Cisco, Texas, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
