It might not erase the sting of losing in the state playoffs a year ago, but the Cisco Loboes gained a measure of revenge on Friday by griding out a 30-20 victory over the Stamford Bulldogs.
With the win, the Loboes nailed down their fifth straight victory and improved to 5-1 overall. More importantly, they moved to 1-0 in District 8-2A action. Stamford, the defending Class 2A state runner-up, fell to 3-3 and 0-1.
Cisco garnered standout performances from quarterback Colby McIlroy and running back Noaa Hernandez. McIlroy passed for 126 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 63 yards and another score. Hernandez led all CHS rushers with a gamehigh 93 yards and three touchdowns on just 13 attempts.
