Sandra L. Keating 106 Kentucky Cisco, TX 76437 817-228-0858 Cell Letter to the Editor of Eastland County Today October 23, 2025 CITIZENS OF CISCO The November 4th election is fast approaching. This election will decide whether we continue giving the CDC one-half of our sales tax money, or close the current CDC, and move the CDC within the City offices, controlled by the City Council. To help you make up your mind which way to vote, here are the facts: The City of Cisco does not have enough income to properly run the City, and is also in debt for an estimated $800,000 to $1,000,000, which they have no way to pay. It is estimated that they will receive $6,497,264 in income for the next fiscal year, and that total expenses will be $6,497,264, leaving no assets for major emergencies. It is estimated that the City will receive $1,021,000 as one percent of the sales tax money for the next fiscal year.
It is fact that the City can run our CDC cheaper and more efficiently than is done now, as recommended by our City Attorney. It is also fact that a CDC within the City would free up money for infrastructure like sewer and water line repair, street repairs, etc. We are an old town, with an old water plant, old streets, and old water and sewer lines. Repairs will be needed.
I t is estimated that the Cisco Development Corporation will receive $1,021,000 as one percent of the sales tax money for the next year. It is also estimated that they now have an estimated $3,000,000 in their bank account and $2,000,000 in properties.
