The Cisco Loboes got a key punt return to set up a touchdown and then intercepted a Hawley pass to seal a wild 29-26 victory over the Hawley Bearcats on Friday in a key District 4-2A showdown in Hawley.
With the win, the Loboes moved a step closer to claiming the 4-2A district championship. Cisco heads into this weekend’s showdown with rival Anson with a 1-game lead over Stamford in the district standings. A win over Anson on Friday at Chesley Field would give the Loboes at least a share of the 4-2A crown regardless of the result of their final game on Nov. 6 against Olney.
Should Cisco and Stamford finish the season in a tie, the Loboes would garner the district title via its 30-20 win over the Bulldogs earlier this season.
