The December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor commended at 0755, with rescue efforts communing only minutes later, as virtually the entire base was transformed into a medical response facility.
Most of the injured brought in from the water and from the burning ships were covered in oil, but the immediate response crucial to treating their burns, the medical staff couldn’t afford the time to clean these patients before treating them, and administered treatment right away. That approach ended up saving many lives.
The attack on Pearl Harbor cost over 3,000 lives, but thanks to an outstanding medical response network that sprang into action, more than 1,100 other Americans survived their injuries. Sunday, Dec. 7, please fly your flag at half staff until sunet.
