The Cisco Loboes moved another step toward the Class 2A state championship game on Friday. And this time, they did it with a new face under center.
Owen Kilpatrick stepped in for starting quarterback Colby McIlroy and teamed with running back Noaa Hernandez to power Cisco to a commanding 28-0 victory over the Spearman Lynx in the third round of the 2A state playoffs. The game was played on a cold night at Pirate Stadium at Cooper High School in Woodrow. With the win, the Loboes improved to 12-1 and earned the right to face off against unbeaten West Texas in this Friday. West Texas, now 13-0, defeated New Home, 26-19, in their third-round matchup.
A junior, Kilpatrick starred under center for Cisco. He completed seven of his nine passing attempts for 136 yards and two touchdowns – both to Hernandez.
