Those who experienced the destructive January 1, 2006 Eastwill never forget that date. A large area beginning near Hwy. 183 south of Romney through the Carbon area and the community of Kokomo and further path. We wrote in our magazine’s Spot-Light: …. “The real story is that subsided, emergency services, churches, businesses, county entities, organizations, schools, and individuals rallied “It is a story, too, of how our county citizens stood before the ashes of their homes, did not give up, but rather began to remove the charred rubble and rebuild their lives.

“It is a statement of appreciation to all the gency services, law envolunteers, who fought lentlessly, undaunted. They are our heroes. We salute them ….”

It should be added that the Kokomo Baptist Church was de-A committee was soon formed and work began to the replace the structure.
