On Friday, January 23, 2026, there was great celebration in Heaven when Dennis Myers Shawver, age 83, went HOME to be with JESUS!
Dennis was born October 10, 1942 at the family home in the Westover community in Baylor County. He was the son of Earl David and Mary Inez (Myers) Shawver. Dennis graduated from Seymour High School, Class of 1962. His family relocated to the Nimrod community in 1963. Thanks to that move, Dennis met and fell in love with Glenda Gale Eudy whom he married in December 1964. They shared almost 57 years of marriage before her passing in December 2021. Dennis worked at the local sale barns as well as the family farm before he and Glenda moved and made their home in Baylor County. He was a cowboy and ranch hand for several outfits in north Texas and for a time in South Dakota.
Dennis eventually hung up his spurs and the family settled in Windthorst where he worked for Berend Brothers at the egg processing facility for 20 years. During this time he spent many years serving as a volunteer fire fighter. After retiring from Berend Brothers in 1994, he and Glenda moved back to Nimrod where he spent the first 15 years of so of his “retirement” farming, raising cattle and goats, as well as working at Thornton Feed Mill full time.
