West Central Texas Council of Governments Homeland Security Department has secured a grant award through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide a Residential Individual Safe Room / Storm Shelter Reimbursement Program. The Residential Individual Safe Room / Storm Shelter Reimbursement Program SURGH DFDO reimbursement for the installation of a residential safe room / storm shelter, aiming to enhance community safety and resilience against severe weather events.
Grant Purpose: This grant will provide reimbursement funding to assist with the installation of a privately owned residential safe room / storm shelters at residences located in the following counties: Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Fisher, Haskell, Jones, Kent, Knox, Mitchell, Nolan, Runnels, Scurry, Shackelford, Stephens, Stonewall, Taylor, and Throckmorton. This program does not provide funding for community wide safe room / storm shelter construction.
Funding Details: The award will provide a reimbursement of 50% of the project cost or a maximum of $3,000 per project, whichever amount is lower. Each project must meet all the requirements of the program to be eligible.
