Oncor seeking approval to build Transmission Lines

Eastland County News

Oncor is seeking approval from the Public Utility Commission of Texas to build one of the (kV) transmission lines, part of a larger effort to strengthen the electric grid and meet rapidly growing power demand across Texas. These extra-high-voltage lines can move sigover long distances with fewer lines than lower- voltage options, potentially improving grid long-term capacity to support economic growth in West Texas and beyond.

However, landowners and residents in the Big Country and areas like Eastland County have raised concerns about impacts: the large steel lattice towers and broad easements could disrupt rural landscapes, affect scenic views, disturb historical or ecological sites, and raise questions about property values and livestock safety. Many feel details on routing, right-of-way requirements and environmental effects have not been fully addressed.
