Sherry was born on March 16, 1964 to Orvel and Louise Gibbs in Fort Worth, Tx. She grew up in many places but mostly in Fort Worth and Dublin. From the young age of 12, she started traveling and singing Gospel music and making peanut brittle throughout the United States. At 14, she had the opportunity to become a professional country singer with Diamond Rio wanting to sponsor her but she didn’t want to sing country and her momma didn’t want to let her go. On Valentine’s Day, when she was 15, she met the love of her life at a Battle of the Songs concert in Fort Worth. Then on November 1, 1980, at the age of 16, she married Tim Elmore and settled down in Eastland County. Tim and Sherry welcomed their daughter, Roxanne, in December 1984 and their son, Jason, in March 1988. Sherry worked 17 years at the Eastland ISD cafeteria. She loved working with the kids. After 17 years, she retired from her job at the school due to medical issues and decided to return to her calling to be a traveling Gospel singer again with her band. Sherry loved the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and cruising. She often talked about her desire to move to the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and her next cruise adventure. She loved animals too. Her two favorite moments on cruises were swimming with dolphins and holding sloths.
