RESOLUTION of the EASTLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT OPPOSING THE PROPOSED ONCOR “DINOSAUR- LONGSHORE” 765 KV TRANSMISSION LINE PROJECT GOING THROUGH EASTLAND COUNTY WHEREAS, the State of Texas is pursuing a strategy to move electricity from the State to the Permian Basin; and WHEREAS, the Public Utility Commission of Texas approved a plan through the year 2038 to accommodate growth around the State; and WHEREAS, the Public Utility Commission of Texas selected Oncor to build a 765kV transmission line from Somervell County to Howard County, with two possible routes going through Eastland County; and WHEREAS, the Eastland County Commissioners Court is committed to protecting the health, safety, property, infrastructure, and overall wellbeing of its citizens; and WHEREAS, the Eastland County Commissioners Court is opposing Oncor bringing the 765kV line through Eastland County because the proposed placement of 765kV lines through Eastland performance of our county-wide emergency communications; 1. Eastland County’s VHF network relies on precise and unobstructed line-of-sight between communication sites; and, 2. The placement of tall transmission structures or disrupt signal performance that can have an effect on communications between law and dispatch operations across the region; and, 3. Primary risk arises from the physical placement and height of the transtn1ss1on towers, which-if located near existing VHF lines-will obstruct, scatter, or attenuate crucial communication signals; and, 4. Eastland County has an obligation to ensure that public-safety communications remain reliable, resilient, and uninterrupted, particularly during emergencies when system failure could place lives at risk.
WHEREAS; the Eastland County Commissioners· Court is opposing Oneor bringing the 765kV line through Eastland County because the construction and proposed placement of 76SkV lines through Eastland County will damage County infrastructure.
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED, that Eastland County Commissioners Court formally opposses the proposed routing of the Oncor 765kV “Dinosaur-Longshore” transmission project through Eastland County until such time as:
