City to forgive 47,000 ‘mistake’ on Water Bills

By Tommy Wells Eastland Mayor Larry Vernon didn’t mince words on Monday at the Eastland City Council meeting. The city, he said, made a mistake on several of its billing accounts and needed to make it right by customers.

The rest of the city council agreed.

The council voted to forgive more than $47,000 in water charges on accounts that were incorrectly billed due to an error on an automated system for customers signed up to participate in the city’s Average Billing program. The overages credits on future bills.
