Oscar M. Lopez, 65, of Dallas, TX passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. His loving parents, Seferino and Elena Lopez, sister Loretta (Lori) Lopez, brother, Hector Lopez, and mother-in-law Fran Whitaker, preceded him in death.
Oscar graduated from Cisco High School, Cisco Junior College, the University of Texas at Austin, and Our Lady of the Lake University where he received an M.A. degree in Human Sciences. As an alumnus and devoted uncle, he avidly supported and attended sporting events at Cisco High School, where his nieces and nephews played. As a University of Texas alumnus, you were hard pressed to find a more faithful and dedicated Longhorns fan. HOOK ‘EM HORNS!
Oscar dedicated 42 years to education, starting as a teacher in 1984 and in 2000 began serving in administrator leadership roles, where he was committed to helping students succeed and making a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues. During his more than twenty years at Dallas College, Oscar devoted himself to student success, institutional growth, and academic excellence. The conclusion of his employment at Dallas College was personally painful but he remained proud of the work he accomplished, and the lives he touched in spite of the error made by the Chancellor and college President in releasing him. Oscar continued his educational career serving students at St. Charles Community College and most recently at Amberton University.
