Districtwide seal coat project to start in Lampasas next week June 17, 2026 from TX DOT

BROWNWOOD DISTRICT – Beginning Monday, June 22, 2026, (weather permitting) TxDOT’s contractor will begin the districtwide application of seal coat to state roadways throughout the Brownwood District. The district includes Brown, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Lampasas, McCulloch, Mills, San Saba and Stephens counties. Sealcoat is a layer of liquid asphalt which is topped with small rocks. This is applied as preventative maintenance to seal cracks, increase traction and prolong the life of the roadway. This year’s project will begin in Lampasas County, with the following locations: FM 3170: From US 190 to the Burnet County line. US 190: From US 281 to the Lampasas/Burnet County line. As the project begins on 3170, traffic will be reduced to one lane with flaggers and pilot car to assist motorists through the work zone. This location of work is anticipated to be completed within a few hours. After FM 3170 is completed, crews will move to US 190, where various lane closures will occur as the project progresses. Motorists are encouraged to drive cautiously through these work zones, obeying directions of flaggers and traffic control and signage. Please watch for crews and equipment entering and exiting the work zone and give them plenty of room to work safely. Portions of other roads included in this project are as follows: • Lampasas County: FM 580, FM 581, FM 1047, FM 1494 • Brown County: US 377, SH 279, FM 45, FM 583, FM 590, FM 1176, FM 2940 • Coleman County: FM 568, FM,1770, FM 2633, FM 2131, FM 1274 • Comanche County: SH 36, SH 16, FM 588, FM 2823, FM 2156, FM 588, FM 2921 • Eastland County: FM 3363, US 183, FM 571, FM 583, FM 2563, FM 2731, SS 490 • McCulloch County: FM 504, FM 714, FM 2309, FM 1028, FM 2822 • Mills County: US 84, FM 573, FM 1047 • San Saba County: FM 500, FM 2997 • Stephens County: US 183, FM 1852, FM 1853, FM 2231, FM 287 This is a fast-moving project that will work its way through the district.
