“I don’t have all the answers …” TJ Cummings, AgriLife Extension Service County Agent said as he began his presentation to the Eastland County Commissioners Court Monday morning.
Cummings had come to speak about the spreading screwworm infestation, which is multiplying since one case was found in Texas several weeks ago. As of Monday, June 22, Texas has 12 active and 3 inactive cases - a total of 15, Cummings added.
Perhaps not all the answers are known, but Cummings spoke of valuable ways to stop the spread in our state. “I want to stress to everyone - if you suspect a case, report it”, he urged. He added that there are entities which can offer help including with medications and gave numbers to call: USDA at 1-512-383-2400 and TX Parks Wildlife at 1-512-389-4505.
