Eastland County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to adopt a resolution opposing solar farms at their Monday, July 13th regular meeting. A petition with 250 signatures from county residents opposing solar farms was presented to the Court on June 8, 2026.
County Judge David Hullum explained that although the Court does not have land use authority (for privately owned property), it does not have to show support to solar farm endeavors in Eastland County. Abatements were not being given, he emphasized. The resolution in its entirety can be read on page 2.
An item regarding the Rising Star VFD annual fundraising event on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026 was brought to the top of the meeting, so that Wayne Jones and others from Rising Star attending the meeting could return to their regular business matters. RSVFD was asking the Court to approve the closing of CR 290 for the aerobatic portion of taking place from 12 - 2pm that day, as has been done in years past. It was assured that detour signs would be in place and mentioned that Eastland County Sheriff deputies had helped in former years, among others. This item also passed unanimously.
