At a short called meeting of the Eastland Board of City Commissioners on August 10, 2026, an item regarding the election of Mayor was postponed due to the absence of Commissioner Joe Williamson. This postponement was request by citizen Lisa Benson. Interim City Manager Ron Holliday explained that Commissioner Williamson could not attend due to severe back problems. He sent his best wishes and regrets that he could not attend, Holliday said.
Regarding an Executive Session to deliberate the positions of City Manager and Interim City Manager, after reconvening in Open Session, Mayor pro tem Shirley Stuart said Interim City Manager Holliday would be on vacation for two weeks returning Sept. 24th. Police Chief Tim Pitts will sit in for Holliday during this time, she explained.
Present at the meeting were City Commissioners Tom Cameron, Shirley Stuart, Larry Vernon and City Manager Ron Holliday.
