It might have come as a surprise to some as the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) signed its final order on Friday, August 28th 2026, allowing construction to begin on two 765-kilovolt transmission lines. These lines will ship electricity and more power across the state to meet growing demands, particularly in the Permian Basin.
State leaders, included Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick had called for changes to the state’s approval process and a reset for the proposed transmission line projects. Landowners and others their many concerns voiced and testified to
regarding the transmission network.
