Cisco Writers Club Thanks Contest Judges

By Ruth York Cisco Writers Club is grateful to the following judges for their hard work in judging the club’s 50th Annual Writing Contest.

Bethney Jacobs judged the Poetry category. Jacobs graduated magna cum laude from Tarleton State University with a Master of Arts in English and a minor in History. She taught English and theatre arts in Cisco and Eastland secondary schools; she now teaches English at Cisco College. In addition to spending time with family, Jacobs is involved in local theatre, church, and community projects.

Debbie Scott judged the Adventures in Writing category for those writers under the age of sixteen. Scott is the author of the children’s Freckle-Faced Susie series. From a young age, Scott always felt God’s presence and had a deep desire to live in a way that pleases Him. She’s served as a children’s minister, sharing the love of Christ with young hearts, and she has the gift of loving others deeply—laughing and crying with them, and rejoicing in their joys. Growing up with a face full of freckles, Scott understands what it feels like to be different, but now she celebrates our differences and lives a life focused on God, the foundation of her joy.
