Eastland County Retired Teachers met Monday, September 16, 2026, for their first meeting of the year at Conrad Hilton Center, Cisco. Participants were treated to a buffet of lasagna, salad, garlic bread, rolls, cake and tea which was provided by Tammy Loran, hostess.
Gail Morris, president of ECRT introduced the presenters. The program was twofold. Presenter Melanie Berry gave an update on the Texas Legislature as participating to retired teachers, and Shannon Boyd represented AMBA, explaining ways to make our homes safer as we age as well as offering amenities provided by AMBA. Many other interesting and informative programs will be offered throughout the year.
Texas Retired Teachers Association, which is state wide is the expert representative and pension defender in the Texas Legislature. The Texas Legislature is the protector of the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) fund and controls distribution of the funds. Membership in the Teacher Retirement System provides a voice to the Texas Legislature.
