The Lady Wranglers Soccer Team is headed to the Region 5 Championship playoffs Thursday, Oct. 29, hosted by Hill College at 3 p.m. in Hillsboro. This is the second year in a row to reach the finals.
Cisco College is seeded in second place with a 3-3 record, while Ranger College is first-seeded with a 6-0 record. Hill College is seeded third while Western Texas College is in fourth place in the championship bracket.
Cisco’s 25-year-old Head Coach is Angel Medel, who came to Cisco last year as an assistant coach before being promoted to head coach. Born in Paramount, California, he grew up in Dallas. He has played soccer since he was 4 years old, playing club soccer, then college ball. He went to Mexico to play professional soccer. “I came back, tore my meniscus, and that’s how I got into coaching,” he said.
