ABILENE, Texas (Oct. 23, 2026) — Cisco College Fine Arts Department Chair Jodi Frizzell earned a Lone Star Regional EMMY Award nomination for her work on the independent short film The Best Days of Richard Davis, adding to a growing list of professional achievements that connect the college's arts program with the film industry.
Presented by the Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), the Regional EMMY Awards recognize excellence in television production across Texas' 19 television markets. Frizzell's film was nominated in the Entertainment — Short Form or Long Form Content category. Winners will be announced November 14, 2026, in Houston.
"It's an incredible honor to be recognized by the Lone Star Emmys, especially for a film we created right here in Abilene," Frizzell said. "We have so many talented people in the Big Country, and this nomination is a wonderful reminder that you don't have to be in a major film market to create work that gets noticed." The Best Days of Richard Davis premiered at the Dallas International Film Festival in April 2026. Filmed entirely in Abilene, the production brought together local cast, student crew, businesses, and educational institutions to create an independent film that has since gained recognition within the region.
