By Tommy Wells Jay Oznick and Audrey Ivey continued to write their names into the Eastland Mavericks’ record books this past week by turning in a stellar outing at the Area Track and Field Championships in Jacksboro. The two seniors highlighted their respective team’s outing by qualifying for the Region II-3A meet.
Oznick helped Eastland place 10th in the boys’ standings by qualifying for regionals in two events. Overall, he tallied the bulk of the Mavs’ points by medaling in both of his events. His second-place finish in the high jump, and third-place mark in the triple jump accounted for 14 of Eastland’s 23 total points.
In the high jump, he reached a personal best, clearing 6 feet, 4 inches in the event. In the triple jump, he claimed the bronze medal with a leap of 43 feet, 3 inches.
