This is Jerome Allen Serna of Roswell New Mexico. On February 22,2023 he was stopped by Officer James Thomas and Sgt. Derek Gun- stanson for not having a visible license plate on his vehicle. During an investigation it was discovered that Serna was transporting three illegal non citizens to the metroplex area. With the assistance of Lt. Lee Risdon, the three passengers and Serna were detained and taken to Cisco Police Department where an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent became involved. This investigation also revealed over $1000.00 cash and an illegal drug. All four suspects were housed in Eastland County Jail. The three illegal non citizens were later taken to Blue Bonnet Federal Detention Facility in Anson Texas. Serna has been charged with Posssesion of a Controlled Substance and Human Smuggling, both felonies. The three non citizens had already been handled by Customs Agents earlier in the month and at that time were released back into Mexico. Serna is currently free on bond. 03/02/2023 12:00 AM

Dahlia Marie Salinas of Cisco passed away Friday, February 24, 2023, at the age of 83. Dahlia was born August 16, 1939 in Sterling City to Trieno and Grabiela Guerrero Moreno. She married Ricardo Salinas December 5, 1956 in Frederick, Oklahoma. She was a member of Our Lady of The Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Dahlia was a wife, homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Trino and Grabiela; brother Mike Moreno and wife Elinor; children Ricardo Salinas Jr., Ruben Salinas, Alice Bonney and Debra Whitehead. 03/02/2023 12:00 AM

The Lord has blessed us to be able to make the first half of this exciting journey with adventures of seeing impressive sights and meeting many wonderful people. Blue Collar Art Reception at the Lyric in Eastland
Blue Collar is an art exhibition at Lyric Art Center in Eastland County, Texas. Four artists contemplate labor using materials ranging from clay and barbed wire to paint and charcoal. Gary Ford and Beth Pearson Lund from Eastland and Kirstyn Wright and William Wright from Decatur find inspiration in their West Texas surroundings. This is visible in choices of materials and subject matter. First Baptist Church Eastland is excited to announce that we are planning for this year's Mission Eastland: Serve Fest. We are looking to help families with minor home repair and/or yard work on the weekend of March 31-April 1st. Applications are processed by our team to determine who is eligible. I also want to thank all of our coaches for their dedication and the extra hours they work preparing our students to be competitive. The same goes to all of our teachers. I want to thank our Superintendent and School Board for budgeting the funds to support our programs and our maintenance department for physically maintaining the facilities!
