Rising Star FCCLA had the pleasure of traveling to Waco on March 12-13, 2023 to compete in the Region II Conference. Rising Star had four teams competing in three different FCCLA competitive events. Yamilet Soto and Mariana Lopez competed in Cupcake Presentation, Daniela Bocanegra and Holli Brown competed in Focus on Children, and Merari Sandoval competed in Repurpose and Redesign. All four teams competed at level two, which includes grades nine and ten.

How many of you believe in old wives tales? Well it thundered in February so it is suppose to freeze again in April. I hate to admit it but this one usually holds true although I hope not this year. I don’t garden but I have many friends that do and I hate to see their hard work spoiled by a late freeze. This week is a good one, nice temperatures and a little rain. I just hope we don’t have any big bursts of wind like we had last week.

Superintendent Robby Stuteville submitted his resignation effective February 20, 2023, to the Rising Star ISD Board of Trustees. David Evans, Rising Star ISD Board President, called a special meeting of the Board of Trustees to discuss the resignation and appoint an acting superintendent until such time as a superintendent could be employed.

The City of Rising Star owns and operates a natural gas distribution system. The gas system consists of an underground network of pipelines throughout the City. The purpose of the gas system is to provide a reliable and safe economical source of energy for heating purposes to the homes and businesses adjacent to the underground gas pipelines. The pipeline system has the capacity to reliably deliver natural gas to the customers.
