The Cottonwood Historical Association will again be hosting an entertaining musical line up with dinner on Friday, March 24th. The Musical kicks off with dinner at 5:00 pm until 7:00 or until everything is gone! On the menu is King Ranch Casserole, or sandwich, salad, and your choice of dessert and drinks. Bethel Baptist Church in Eastland is having a huge Rummage and Bake Sale Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25 from 8 AM to 5 PM. There will be clothes, children’s sports uniforms, furniture, linens, kitchen stuff, jewelry, purses, toys, glassware, plants, what nots, fabric, craft kits and patterns, and lots of miscellaneous. EHS Band Accepted to UIL State Festival
The EHS Maverick Band has been accepted to the UIL State Wind Ensemble Festival in May of 2024 at the University of Texas at Austin. This is a high honor for only 16 bands who apply and “make a first division in concert and sightreading”. The UIL SWEF site says: 1. The goal of this event is not to win an award, but rather to accept the challenge of making music for the sole purpose of performing at the highest level possible for an appreciative, supportive audience in an optimum acoustical space. 03/16/2023 12:00 AM

In the late afternoon on that date fast moving, ferocious wild fires collectively known as the Eastland County Complex Fire - burned 54,463 acres and destroyed 158 structures overall, according to official reports. On Monday, March 6, 2023 after receiving information from other knowledgeable sources, the County Judge decided to remove the OUTSIDE BURNING BAN in Eastland County with the stipulation and request that anyone intending to plan and execute any type of outside burning, please contact EAstland County Cooperative Dispatch (254)629-1728 and their nearest fire department to notify them of the time and location of the outside burning activity, with no fire being started if there is 15 MPH wind speed or above. Please use extreme caution with any outside burning! The County Judge may rescind the Order Restricting Outdoor Burning upon a determination that the circumstances that required the Order no longer exist. 03/09/2023 12:00 AM

Market on steers and heifers weighing 500# and under were steady. Market on weaned steers and heifers weighing over 500# were $5-$8 higher.
