Cisco Loboes 38, Anson Tigers 19
Cisco Loboes 38, Anson Tigers 19
1st Quarter With 2:59 left in the first quarter, Cisco led 15 to 0 over Anson. That is about the time I tuned in from the Hazlewood cousins’ house in San Marcos, Texas. I had to miss going to the game to attend a Memorial Service for my ex-wife in Austin. Actually I witnessed the blocked punt for the savety which added 2 points to the already existing defensive TD, making the score 8 to 0. What I saw and heard was Orsagh’s pass to Thompson giving Cisco a first down on the 5-yard line. Illegal procedure made it 1st and goal on the 10. Hart went around RE for a TD, making it, with Proffitt’s kick, 15 to 0. Cordell Harper made the first TD and later scored again on another defensive TD. Kickoff to Anson was made by Parker Williams. It was 1st and 10 on the A40, then 2nd and 1 on the A49. Talon Bruner and others stopped Anson for no gain, for 3rd and 1, then the Loboes stopped the Tigers again and it was 4th and 1, but then up the middle for 1st and 10 on C49. Rains and Hart stopped a LE run and the quarter ended. 2nd Quarter On the C49, it was 2nd down for Anson on C45, then 3rd and 6. Timeout Anson. QB draw made it 1st and 10 on C39. Carson Cochran stopped QB Wilburn for no gain; it was 2nd and 10. Wilburn ran from C34 to C29. Holding was called. It was 1st and 20 at C49. A screen pass made 3, but Cisco was called for hitting late, and the ball was moved to the C33 and it was 1st and 10. A pass to Anson’s #3 picked up 3 and he was stopped by White. There was 10:00 left in the half. Rains sacked the QB and it was 3rd and 18 on the C41. A fade was too long—Silva was defending. It was 4 and 18 on C41. Anson punted into the End Zone. Cisco started on their own 20. Orsagh was running the Shotgun formation. Orsagh went off the right side for 7, and then made 3 yards for 1st down on the C30. Thompson received a pitch around LE and came back across the center of the field to the for 1st and 10 on the A43. 1st D. Orsagh made 9 and it was 2nd and 1 on A34. A pitch back to Silva lost to the A41. Thompson went around LE and it was 4th and 1 on A34. Orsagh went up the middle for a 1st D, but Movement made it 4th and 6. A pass to Proffitt was incomplete. Anson took over on downs on the A39. A pass was complete to A48 and it was 2nd and 1. Haden Rains stopped the Tigers and it was 3rd and 2 on A47. Timeout with 3:08 left in the half. The Loboes jumped and it was 1st D on the C48. 2 plays later when it was 3rd and 1, Cisco was given a Personal Foul. Anson had 1st D on C24. A completed pass moved the ball to the C14. It was 2nd and 6 on the C10. Cisco recovered a fumble, but there was only 58 seconds left in the half. Cisco had 1st D just inside the A10. Hart ran for 2, and a pass to Silva made 4 or 5 yards. Silva went around LE for a good gain, but a penalty moved the ball back to the 20. 31 seconds were left in the half. 3rd Quarter Cisco’s White returned the ball to the C33. A smash up the middle to Hart gained 4 yards. Hart ran again for 1st D, a good gan to the A20. Orsagh made one yard. Thompson went around RE and holding was called; it was placed with ball on the A27 and it was 2nd and long. A pass to Desmond was completed for a TD, and with Proffitt’s kick it was 22 to 0 in favor of the Loboes. Kickoff to Anson and the ball was on the A35. Carson Cochran tackled them for a loss. It was 3rd and 17 after Wilburn’s run, then after a completed pass it was 4th and 5, and Anson punted. Thompson received the punt on the C35. Desmond went up the middle and it was 2nd and 9. The ball was stripped from Orsagh when he was surrounded by Tigers. Anson’s pass was knocked down by White. It was 2nd and 10 on C40. Anson was penalized and it was 3rd and 20 on C40. A pass was completed to Anson’s #22 and it and it was 1st and 10 on C13. Cochran and Hart stopped them for no gain. Thompson tackled Anson at the 6 yard line. It was 3rd and 5, and then 4th and 1. Cisco’s defensive line held and Cisco took over on the 3. Hart went up the middle for 3, and then for 1 more and it was 3rd and 6. Thompson made it 1st D. Orsagh was hit in the backfield on a blitz. It was 2nd and 14. Orsagh threw an interception; White knocked down the extra point pass, and it was 22 to 6 with 1:22 left in the 3rd Quarter. 4th Quarter Jackson Wilks recovered an Anson fumble on the A12, with 11:45 left in the 4th Quarter, and the Loboes scored again when Proffitt took the direct snap and scored ,with Parker Williams kicking the extra point, and it was Cisco 29 and Anson 6. Kickoff to Anson and they fielded the ball near the 50. Anson scored on a long yardage play and it was 29 to 13. Then in a short period of time, Anson scored again when they took the ball away from a Cisco runner, making it Cisco 29 and Anson 19. Byrd stopped the extra point. Kickoff to Cisco Carson Cochran fielded the onside kick. A pitch to Hart lost yardage. A personal foul was accessed against Anson for a face mask penalty, no a false start on Anson and it was 1st and 10 on A26. Desmond lost yardage, then a screen to Proffitt made it 3rd and 8 . Loss by Orsagh with 6:26 left. 15 yard penalty moved the ball to the A43. It was 4th and 27 and Cisco punted. Braden Rogers punted it to the coffin corner on the 1 yard line. Anson made 2 yards to the 3, and up the middle to the 6, then called timeout again. Cordell Harper got his second 2 points, when he tackled Anson for a safety, making it 31 to 19. Mavs look to cinch third vs. Comanche
Mavs look to cinch third vs. Comanche
‘Make no mistake about it, this week’s showdown with longtime rival Comanche means a lot to the Eastland Mavericks, even though they have already clinched a postseason spot. A win over the Indians would enable the Mavericks to climb into the thirdplace position in the District 5-3A standings. That third-place finish could enable Eastland to avoid seventh-ranked Holliday in the bi-district round of the postseason. 11/02/2023 12:00 AM
