Stamford Takes Shoe and Game From Cisco 28 to 13
1st Quarter Cisco received the kickoff and marched down the field for a lead of 7 to 0 with 4:06 left in the 1st quarter. The drive started the C20. Hart lost one. 2Nd 11. Orsagh around LE on a keeper. 1st down on C34. Desmond made 3, and a short pass to Silva made 5, but it was 3rd and 2. Orsagh went up the middle to the C47. 1st down. Hart went around RE for another first to S47. A flag for illegal procedure and it was 1st and 15 on the S47. Orsagh a keeper up the middle 3rd and 13 on S44. Swing pass to Silva to LS to S40. 1st down. Short gains by Hart and Orsagh. Another penalty and it was 3rd and 23 on the C46. A pass to Desmond put the ball on the S13. 1st and 10. Hart went up the middle for 2. Another short gain and it was 3rd and 8 on the S11. Cisco scored on a pass to Silva in the end zone. 7 to 0 with pt.

Lady Panthers run to district crown
The Gorman Lady Panthers had eight eight runners place in the top 11 spots this past week and cruised to the district cross country championship. The Lady Panthers’ performance highlighted a sensational outing in which Hadli Hampton led the Gorman girls won the varsity team title, while Triston George and Emma De La Cruz won the boys’ varsity anf girls’ junior varsity races.

Harmony Baptist Church has begun planning for its 125th Anniversary celebration that will occur August 2024. Desdemona Fish Fry
The Desdemona Activity Center will have one of our great fish fries Saturday, October 21st . Serving is 5:00 PM—7:00 PM. We will have fish, chicken tenders, beans, french fries, potato salad, slaw, hush puppies, & all the extras. This will be our last fish fry of the year so please don’t miss it. Cost is by donation.

RSID Students work on Sewing Projects
Our Family and Community Service class (taught by Mrs. Keierleber) has been working on some pillowcase and pillow and basic quilting projects with Rising Star students. Through the process the students have learned about planning a project, selecting fabrics/patterns, and the sewing process. These projects look great!!! October 21st Fall Festival In the Park
October 21 has been is the 2023 FALL FESTIVAL in the park on Hwy. 36 in Rising Star, 10 AM to 4 PM. FUN things to do are planned such as Photo Booth, cake walk, music, corn hole, face painting, jewelry, air fresheners, candy, wind chimes and a special pecan pie contest. Other goods may be sold as well.

Pirates rally past Gorman, 70-44
By Tommy Wells The Perrin-Whitt Pirates scores six times in the third quarter on Friday and rallied to claim a wild 70-44 comefrom- behind win over the Gorman Panthers in District 6-A action. The Pirates had trailed at the half by a 24-21 clip.
