County Woman killed in I-20 Crash
Texas Department of Public Safety officials reported that an Eastland resident, Sherry Ann Maxey, 64 years of age, was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Jesse Speer on June 6 at 1:05 AM after she was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 20. The accident occurred within Ranger city limits.

Summer at the Library: Big Attendance for Creature Teacher
The Creature Teacher was a great success! We had 176 people in attendance. The students got to touch a boa constrictor, a giant lizard and a kangaroo. We would like to thank Bobby Blackwell, Texas Farm Bureau Insurance for sponsoring the Creature Teacher.

Maverick 7-on-7 qualify for State
The Maverick 7-on-7 Football team qualified for the State Tournament. They qualified by winning a tournament in Abilene on Friday, June 10. The Mavericks will compete in the State 7-on-7 Tournament in College Station on June 22-23. Go Mavericks!

Eastland County Commissioners’ Court Report from Monday’s Meeting
The Eastland County Commissioners’ Court met in a regular meeting on 06/12/2023 at the Eastland County Commissioners’ Courtroom in Eastland,Texas. Judge Hullum called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m. and declared a quorum, followed by a prayer and pledge of allegiance to the flag.

House fire in Ranger claims life
A house fire in near-by Ranger took the life of one male last Wednesday. The fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshall. More will be reported as information becomes available.
