Stamford reeled off eight runs in the top of the seventh inning Monday evening at Poly Wells Field at Abilene Christian University and then held on to claim a 17-3 victory in their Class Region I-2A quarterfinal showdown. With the win, Stamford moved a step closer to making its third straight appearance in the state tournament by cementing a place opposite Colorado City in the next round.
