CHISHOLM TRAIL EXHIBIT COMING TO EASTLAND COUNTY MUSEUM
Eastland County Museum is pleased to announce that it is hosting the Texas Lakes Trail traveling exhibit on the historic Chisholm Trail beginning August 31. The Texas Historical Commission celebrated the 150th anniversary of this fabled trail which took millions of longhorns north to railroads in Kansas. The money from the sale of the longhorns brought Texas out of the financial disaster following the Civil War.

Bankhead Community Theatre Seeks Crew, Cast for Fall Production
By Anna Ford Bankhead Community Theatre (BCT) is a new community driven group that is excited to bring theatrical performances and workshops to the area. Currently composed of people from Cisco, Clyde, Eastland, and Ranger, the troupe is open to everyone. No theater background or prior experience necessary!

U.S. Congressman Roger Williams, 25th Texas District, spoke and took questions from a group of Eastland City officials, county leaders and educators last Wednesday at the Eastland Connellee Roof Garden. These included EHS Dual Credit students, political science, with instructor Nancy Hughes, Ranger College.

The Eastland High School class of 1977 is having an impromptu gathering on Saturday, September 23, 2023. The gathering will be held at 1 p.m. and take place at 517 E. Sadosa St. in Eastland.

Scranton Musical Sept. 2nd
The Scranton Community Center will have our next musical on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Ruby Sherman of Cisco is hosting the meal of hot dogs with all of the trimmings and various delicious desserts with tea or coffee with free refills. Sandwiches will be available for $1.50 for any who desires them. We will appreciate your donation of $7 for the meal, dessert and drink. Food is served at 5:00 PM, and the music starts at 5:30.

Ranger Lions enjoy W.K. Gordon Museum Presentation; View Texas Spurs Display
Mary Adams, W.K. Gordon Museum Director and Curator of Collections, gave an interesting presentation about the museum and research center at Ranger Lions Club’s August 10th meeting. She also arranged a captivating display of spurs, which were part of the 2022 “Texas Spurs and the Artists Who Created Them” exhibit. The spurs belong to the Hugh Edmondson Collection.

Patriot Day Freedom Walk To Be Held September 11
The Ranger Veterans support Group will have a Patriot Day Freedom Walk on Monday September 11th at the Vietnam Memorial Park in Ranger. The program will start at 10:30 AM and be over at 12 noon. We will walk the perimeter of the park. It is too hot to walk down the hiway. Around the park it will be a lot cooler with the shade trees.
