47th Annual Cisco Writers Club Contest Now Open
by Vera Day https:// twitter.com/VeraDayAuthor Cisco Writers Club sponsors a writing contest each summer. This is its 47th year. Should you enter contests in general and this contest in particular? Contests always flex your writing muscles, so that’s a plus. But beyond that, winners get bragging rights, their author names publicized, and, in this case, monetary awards. I’d shy away from contests that charge an arm or a leg, but the Cisco Writers Club contest fees are extremely reasonable at just $5 each.

I wrote them and said, “You did pretty well because you just missed it by one year; it began in 1893, the same year that the University of Texas first played a football game against Texas A & M.” I never got a reply from them.
