My grandmother, Lilly Lucretia Stephens Donaway, had an aunt who died crossing Sandy Creek at high water in 1926. Her name was Missouri Margaret Nusbaum and my grandmother inherited her 80 acres and a trunk that was stored underneath the kitchen sink at my grandparents' farm west of Cisco. On December 13, 2023 the Bluebonnet Chapter of Association was hosted by the City of Eastland. 15 City Secretaries met at The Connellee Hotel and Civic Center in Eastland. Eastland Mayor Larry Vernon and Eastland City welcomed City Secretaries from across the region and provided a meal of yummy chili, beans and potato soup The meal was sponsored by Clint Coffee State Farm Insurance, who, along with the City of Eastland, provided Goody Bags to all attendees. Several attendees brought items for a Silent Auction. This auction helps provide funds for our scholarships for continuing education or TMCCP Cer After the meal, the City Secretaries conducted their quarterly business meeting. Highlights of the meeting include: newly elected officers taking their Oath of Office; the 2023 Blue bonnet Chapter Municipal Clerk of the Year was awarded to Abilene Deputy City Secretary Kaitlin Richardson. 12/21/2023 12:00 AM

Local Artist gives facelift to Mary and Joseph
The nativity set from the Kamon’s Estate was donated to the historical Conrad N. Hilton Center & Museum in 2019. The nativity set needed new paint and Paula Schaefer, local artist stepped up to the plate and has finished both Mary & Joseph.
