Eastland County Retired Teachers met Monday, November 13 at Myrtle Wilks Community Center in Cisco. President Gail Norris introduced Rhonda Bilbrey with Bilbrey Tours. Ms. Bilbrey presented a fascinating program explaining her travel company. Tours with Bilbrey may range from day trips to longer two-week journeys such as a day trip to hear “The Texas Tenors” in Grapevine or longer ones to the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California, or evn farther to Norway. A portions of the monies from Bilbrey Tours goes to Lena Bilbrey ‘s Legacy, the founder, to build water wells in Uganda, East Africa.

Rising Star Bows to Bronte in Bi-District
The Rising Star football season came to an abrupt end last Friday in Winters when the Bronte Longhorns defeated the Wildcats 3520 to win the Bi-District playoff game. The Wildcats received the opening kickoff and moved to the five-yard line only to have Bronte intercept a Wildcat pass to end the threat. Bronte then marched the ball straight down the field added by a Wildcat pass interference penalty to score the first TD of the game with 2:54 remaining in the first quarter. The PAT was blocked and Bronte led 6-0. The Wildcats turned the football over to the Longhorns on downs and they immediately increased their lead to 12-0 as the Bronte quarterback connected on the wide

Bankhead Community Theatre Presents THE 39 STEPS
Bankhead Community Theatre presents Alfred Hitchcock’s THE 39 STEPS a Parody Adapted by Patrick Barlow at the Lyric Art Center in Eastland, TX. Opening night is on Friday, November 17th with the performance starting at 7:30PM. This is a wonderful Christmas Project for individuals, businesses, Church groups, civic clubs, organizations, daycares, or anyone with a kind heart for the elderly. Security Title Company is holding our annual Snowman/ Snowwoman Christmas Tree. We invite you to come to our location at 115 S. Lamar in Eastland, and take a snowman to help bring the elderly of The Woodlands Nursing and Rehabilitation a very Merry Christmas! Their Christmas party is being held on December 22, 2023 and we would like to try and get their gifts up there to them so they will be able to open them up on that day! We want to give our appreciation in advance to any and all who choose to give this season.

RESIDENTIAL BAGGED LEAF PICK UPS BEGIN NOVEMBER 10
The City of Eastland, along with Waste Connections, will once again offer free residential bagged leaf curbside pick-ups on the second and fourth Fridays of each month beginning November 10, 2023. This season the pick-ups have been extended through April 26, 2024.
